These
beginners/intermediate courses are open to CIEEM
members and non-members and are suitable for
anyone wishing to gain confidence in a
variety of ecological and/or botanical subjects.
This may include land managers, local authority
ecologists and planners, conservation officers
and licensing staff within SNCOs or NGO’s,
students, ecological consultants, environmental
managers, wardens, rangers or conservation
volunteers who need to gain botanical ID skills
in order to conduct surveys and record species
for conservation charities.

Online botany and ecology course outline:
This
course is suitable for individuals, hobby botanists, education
centres (schools, colleges, universities), conservation volunteers,
professionals and graduates throughout the UK. Botany and
its role in the ecosystem is an online, distance learning modular course in plant science,
ecology and botanical identification with mentor support. This course is designed for
anyone with an interest in botany and ecology who is keen to learn
how to use plant features for accurate identification and understand
the role of botany in an ecosystem and will help to provide a well
rounded view of plant science and symbiosis, botanical
identification, naming structures and hierarchies (taxonomy),
habitats and habitat indicators and effects of pollution in
freshwater habitats.
This online botany and ecology course covers the identification of angiosperm vascular plants
– flowering plants, ferns and trees. You can choose to study
the modules individually or enrol on the full course. For
completion of each module, students will receive a certificate of
participation or, on successful achievement of the end of
module tests, receive a Certificate of Achievement.
This
online course is designed for anyone interested in botany and its role in
the ecosystem who is keen to learn
how to use plant features for accurate identification.
